ABOUT ME

Welcome to my piano studio!

Alex climbed onto the piano bench at age three and was delighted when she discovered that by pressing the keys she could mimic the sounds around her. She started piano lessons soon after and has been sharing her love of music by teaching piano lessons for about 12 years.

During high school, Alex studied with Professor Lenora Brown, from whom she continued to progress and learn throughout her undergraduate studies at the University of Utah.  She’s had the opportunity to study from several other professional musicians in violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, oboe, trumpet, trombone, French horn, percussion, jazz, and voice in collaborations and master classes.

Alex's breadth of learning and teaching opportunities allows her to draw from diverse music experiences and personalize lessons to her student’s needs and abilities.   Alex's training was also augmented by teaching at the Utah State University Music Conservatory where she taught private students and collegiate theory and music history classes. She oversaw the design and preparation for festivals and fundraisers as well as facilitating and performing in recitals and Monster Concerts. During her studies at the U, she participated in the children’s musical outreach program for three years where she taught children who hadn’t previously had access to music lessons in a group setting at Salt Lake elementary schools.

In addition to her own solo performances, Alex collaborates with other musicians, enjoying the joys of improvisation and composition. When Alex is not playing the piano, she loves being outside, design, painting, and traveling.
